Cartographer Ian Thomas sacked for revealing Alaska destruction plans
English-born American Ian Thomas is a cartographer - he makes maps using his computer and satellite images. He was sacked by the United States Geological Survey for being too good at his job. In March 2001 he enhanced an image of Alaska, USA. He was at that time interested in following the habits of the herds of Caribou, a kind of deer. What he didn’t realize was that his map was so accurate it showed everyone what President Bush’s environmental policy was in Alaska, particularly the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
In the Refuge is a strip of land that Bush and his corporate backers in the oil industry are planning to destroy with oil exploration. They were not too pleased when Ian Thomas put this map on the Internet, because it showed the world that the exploration plans would be very harmful. Thomas was sacked on the spot.
Within days Thomas received thousands of email messages of support from people concerned about the environment. Pressure groups took up his case. He is now making maps for the World Wildlife Fund, where he is appreciated.

Certainly there is highly organized cooperation among the world’s wealthy, individuals, institutions and corporations. To the extent this group is able to influence governments, it does aim to influence political, economic and social policy to serve its interests.
There continues to be competition among governments as well as among the members of this wealthy group and that leads to disagreement and dispute about who is supreme — the group does not like equality and therefore continually struggles to gain control of its members openly and covertly.
Covert manipulation of the group and the populace of nations is carried out by the world’s vast intelligence operations, private and governmental, which is itself a global force which may be more powerful than that based on wealth or national identity.
The principal tool for covert manipulation is secrecy, again private and governmental. Secrecy fosters deception and cloaks criminal activity, and most importantly, it is opposed to democratic openness and prevents full governmental transparency and accountability.
Secrecy is increasing, and to the exact extent it increases it favors those who keep secrets and enforce laws that protect secrecy, most often invoked on the basis of “national security” but also heavily used to hide commercial malfeasance.
My view is that secrecy is the greatest threat to freedom throughout the world, by far the greatest threat to democracy and freedom, and has been in history and will continue to be. Without secrecy none of the private and governmental means to control and exploit the uninformed populace would work.
Abuse of secrecy underlies all efforts to frighten the populace into submission and obedience. The current financial crisis an example, not different from that used to go to war in Iraq and wars galore in the past and yet to come unless people rise up to abolish secrecy — which they do from time to time, thank goodness, but the vile addictive practice requires constant medication, or best, surgical removal.

This sure smells like it could be a racially biased hate crime. But because it’s Louisiana and because these people are black they will probably not even loose their jobs.
I hear of this kind of abuse everywhere I go and in every care facility I see. It is worse in places where the race of the care givers is different from the care receivers. But it is disproportionately bad where the care givers are black. I truly don’t want to believe it is hate, as much as it is ignorance, however the evidence suggest hate.
Oddly enough in Alexandria Louisiana which is across the river from this institution the police use a crime reporting system called LIBRS. The police there can not, I repeat can not….report a hate crime even if they wanted to. The police department configures the software in such a way as to prevent this type of report. Now whats interesting is the the population in Alexandria is over 50% black. There are many crimes that are black against white. Yet no one can report that there are hate crimes or racially bias crimes committed. The police chief also happens to be black. I think it is also important to note that according to LIBRS, Alexandria Louisiana is not even certified to use their software.

This is going to increase existentially as the Military Industrial Complex grows. The MIC will need more and more slaves as it increases it’s output of goods and services. There is a tremendous upswing in the business of privatizing the prison system. Even the parole and probation departments of the judicial system have gone private. And once you get in this system it is a money sucker. They have more ways to fine you than you can imagine. Instead of helping a person get on the right track the system now makes it so hard to jump through their loops you are bound to get into trouble and thereby getting fined more money. It has become a real racketeer run operation.

It is so blatantly obvious that one should invest in hard assets. Real gold and silver bullion, real estate,
anything that has some mass to it. Something that will not evaporate into thin air. When it is all said and done there may be little left of the so called market, and people’s hard earned savings and investments will evaporate into nothing. Why not just make a simple purchase of things that have real value? That way you keep what you invest regardless of what happens to the market. You can’t loose that way. The |market is nothing but gambling. Seems rather obvious to me.
